Paintings by Artist Melody Hawtin

An Exmoor based artist

Inspired by the Exmoor countryside and coastline artist Melody paints in a colourful contemporary style.

As an artist Melody uses colour to express emotion, her connection with her subject, painting mainly in oil she achieves the rich vibrant colours that can so often be seen on Exmoor.  Her use of colour takes us further, it takes us in to her own journey, her own connection with the subject, how was she feeling as she watched the sun setting, deer running, the fog moving over a hill obscuring parts and revealing as it chooses.

As an aside, Exmoor is the only place in England where you will see herds of Red Stag roaming freely.  Exmoor ponies, a very hardy breed unique to this area, can also be seen roaming the landscape.

So whether she is painting a landscape, seascape, a flower or even a classic car you are drawn into her world as an artist, a world where things matter and have a purpose a plan that is always unfolding.

Giclée prints of original paintings

The other categories above are for Giclée prints, these we provide on either Hahnemuhle fine art paper of canvas printed by David using a Canon IPF8300 large format printer with 12 pigment inks giving a lightfastness of over 100 years.  In general terms this means that in normal room conditions a print will not fade during it’s normal life.

Prints on canvas are additionally protected by Hahnemühle Lacquer, this is a totally clear but protective coating that provides some UV protection for the print and some mechanical protection allowing the surface to be wiped clean.

All prints are signed by Melody with a title and with an edition number if appropriate to the print.

Delivery of your artwork

Original art will be flat packed as appropriate to the size.  For international shipping we use a packaging company to make heavy duty cardboard boxes or wooden crates, again as appropriate to the size.

Fine art prints on either paper or canvas will be shipped in a cardboard tube, we recommend that pictures are unwrapped by a framer as it is possible to damage the surface especially with paper prints as the paper will be quite spring like after being in the tube.

Shipping of paintings within the UK is free.  Shipping to other parts of the world will be charged at cost.

Framing Service

Within the UK we can also offer prints framed in a range of mouldings and are happy to advise the cost of this service, similarly we can provide canvas prints stretched on high quality stretcher bars.  We do not offer this as standard on the website as their is always such a wide range of options.  Framed prints can be shipped  within mainland UK.
