Classic Car Paintings – how it came about

Porlock has it’s own classic car collection which is on show throughout the year, but that is not how it started.  One day Melody was on a tour with Discovery Safaris of Porlock.  Over the moor near Tarr Steps was an old barn, the doors stood open and there inside was an old classic car, covered in blankets and dust.  Melody thinks the car was an Austin 7 but is not sure.

The car was an inspiration and started her off with her first classic car ‘Hidden Treasure’.  Not something that she often paints but they are part of her underlying message of ‘Hope and Restoration’.  Sometime after this find she was introduced to the world of restoration by the owner of the cars in ‘Friends’.

To see a classic car looking like a heap of scrap but to discover it is not the end, there is hope and it has not been forgotten.  Later or further down the garage will be a classic car well on it’s way to restoration, what a transformation.  Perhaps it can bring hope to people as well, it is never too late to meet the restorer.

Giclée prints of original paintings

Classic car prints, are provide on either Hahnemühle fine art paper of canvas. The original artwork is scanned using large format high resolution scanner. Printing is on a Canon IPF8300 large format printer with 12 pigment inks giving a lightfastness of over 100 years.  In general terms this means that in normal room conditions a print will not fade during it’s normal life.

Classic car prints on canvas are additionally protected by Hahnemühle Lacquer, this is a totally clear but protective coating that provides some UV protection for the print and some mechanical protection allowing the surface to be wiped clean.

All prints are signed by Melody with a title and with an edition number if appropriate to the print.

Delivery of your artwork

Fine art prints on either paper or canvas will be shipped in a cardboard tube, we recommend that pictures are unwrapped by a framer as it is possible to damage the surface especially with paper prints as the paper will be quite spring like after being in the tube.

Shipping of paintings within the UK is free.  Shipping to other parts of the world will be charged at cost.
